Radha Raman Temple

LORD RADHARAMAN JI

This is the famous temple of Gopala Bhatta Goswami. The seva Puja of Radha Raman was established in 1542, after the deity self-manifested from a saligram-sila. Also kept in this temple is the wooden sitting place (Choki) and shawl (Chaddar) of Lord Chaitanya, that He gave as a gift to Gopala Bhatta Goswami.

Once, on Lord Narasimhadeva's appearance day a rich business man made an offering of clothes, crown, and jewellery to Gopala Bhatta Goswami, who lamented that he was worshipping Saligram-sila (which is round just like a stone) , he could not utilize such articles like the other Goswami's were in dressing their Deities. Lamenting this way, Goswami took rest. Early the next morning when he came to bath his saligram-sila, he discovered that one of the silos had transformed in to the most beautiful Deity of Krishna ,who had manifest Himself out of Love, just to receive worship from Gopala Bhatta Goswami. Radharamana means " one who gives pleasure to Radha" and is one of the many names of Krishna. There is no Deity of Radharani in this temple, but a crown is kept next to Krishna signifying Her presence.
