Nidhi Van
The word nidhu means surata-krida, ‘amorus pastimes’. Govinda-lilamrta and other scriptures give beautiful descriptions of Radha and Krsna’s surata-krida in Nidhivana. These scriptures indicate that because the keli-vilasa during night (nisa) takes place in the keli-kunjas of Nidhivana, so the sayana-vilasa. Or pastime of sleeping, at the end of the night (nisanta) also takes place here. Seeing dawn approaching, Vrnada-devi becomes alarmed and orders the suka, sari, peacocks, cuckoos, bumblebees and so forth to make their sweet humming and other sounds to wake up Kisora and Kisori. The raganuga bhaktas, and especially the eminent rupanuga rasika bhaktas, relish this nisanta-lila in their hearts while chanting nama-sankirtana. Sripada Visvanatha Cakravarti Thakura gives a nectarean description of this lila in his Svapna-vilasa.
